First Responders Appreciation Weekend at Boothbay Railway Village Museum
The Boothbay Railway Village is pleased to welcome First Responders and their families to an appreciation weekend on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5. In gratitude for their selfless service and commitment to community, the museum will offer free admission to all First Responders and their families for the entire weekend. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and train rides are offered on the hour from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The museum is open to all others at regular admission. Celebrating Maine's Craft Heritage: On Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Wednesday, Oct. 1 Museum visitors will enjoy Maine artisans at work as they demonstrate how their crafts were practiced in the mid-1800s to mid-1900s. Sculptor, Anne Alexander and Weaver, Susan Perrine will be on property from 10 a.m. to 4 p. .offering demos and answering questions. They will also have products for sale.
Guided Tours with Graham Bryer: Each Tuesday Graham offers private guided tours for visitors to experience an in depth look at 100 years of Maine history. Visitors are invited to enhance their visit by scheduling a guided tour at call 207-633-4727.
Fall Foliage Festival: On Saturday Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct.12, the museum will welcome locals and visitors to the 57th annual Fall Foliage Festival. The two-day event will feature 85 (+) talented artists and makers, Maine musicians, delicious local foods, drinks, and treats. Admission also includes 35 acres of hands-on discovery with 28 museum exhibits, a model railroad and one of Maine’s most impressive antique auto collections. Festival admission information: $5 per person, free for ages 5 and under, train rides an additional $5 per person, train rides free to museum members. The festival has limited vendor space available and applications can be completed at RailwayVillage.org. The festival is a major fundraiser for the museum and the Boothbay Region Information Center and all proceeds benefit these nonprofit organizations.
All museum events are designed to celebrate community and provide a place for families and friends to gather. Boothbay Railway Village is a 501(c)3 non-profit museum missioned to conserve, display and interpret artifacts, authentic period structures and technologies utilized in Maine during the historical period of the mid-19th through the mid-20th centuries. The vision is to utilize its unique village setting to engage adults and children in hands-on activities designed to create a better understanding of Maine village life throughout the period.
